Philosophy of Education:
My philosophy of teaching could be summed up in a quote by Ken Bain, the author of What the Best College Teachers Do, “…teaching occurs only when learning takes place” (2004, p. 173). This quote highlights the acceptance of responsibility by the educator to teach in a manner in which the audience is actually learning, and underscores that teaching is much more than an ‘expert’ standing in front of a group of people imparting information to them.

My philosophy of learning was formed using three main concepts: adults learn by doing, adults learn by building on experience, and adults learn best in a collaborative learning environment. I strive to incorporate these three concepts into my teaching in order to maximize learning.
